Pan Quark

Pan Quark (also referred to as Quark Pan, 夸克网盘) is a Chinese cloud storage service developed under Alibaba Group's Quark brand. It originally launched in 2021 as part of the Quark browser app before completing a standalone client reconstruction in 2023. On February 8, 2026, Pan Quark officially released as a fully independent application, available across all major app stores in China.

The standalone app is built on Alibaba Cloud's security infrastructure and Qwen large model AI technology. It emphasizes a clean, distraction-free experience with no information feeds or splash screen ads, launching users directly into the file management interface. Key features include high-speed transfers reaching up to 125 MB/s, AI-powered smart search, 4K video playback with Dolby Vision, and real-time cross-device synchronization.

Like its sibling product Alipan, Pan Quark runs on Alibaba Cloud's infrastructure and leverages the same underlying storage and acceleration technologies. The two products coexist as separate offerings within Alibaba Group, targeting different user segments.

Pan Quark is only accessible within mainland China. Registration requires a Chinese phone number, and accessing the service requires a Chinese IP address for stable connections. Purchasing a membership plan also requires a Chinese payment method such as Alipay.

Feature Overview

Transfer Performance

In gigabit network environments, Pan Quark reaches maximum download speeds of 125 MB/s, allowing a 10 GB Blu-ray quality movie to be downloaded in under two minutes. The service adapts to varying network conditions for stable transfers across different bandwidths. Users can run up to five parallel file downloads simultaneously.

Media Playback

Pan Quark includes a built-in high-performance player with native 4K ultra HD support and Dolby Vision display. A proprietary video enhancement algorithm can improve low-resolution or older video quality. The platform also supports online file decompression and preview for 136 file formats, including Xmind and PSD.

Cross-Device Synchronization

Files sync in real time across phones, computers, and tablets. The service supports automatic backup of mobile photo albums and automatic backup of local computer files. Quark Quick Transfer allows users to send files between devices and continue editing them across terminals, with automatic saving across sessions.

Security

Pan Quark is built on Alibaba Cloud's security infrastructure. It holds ISO international standards certification, China's Level 3 Information Security Protection certification, and SOC compliance audit certification. Data protection includes end-to-end encryption, transmission encryption, and storage encryption.

Alibaba Ecosystem

Pan Quark and Alipan are both cloud storage services within Alibaba Group that share the same underlying Alibaba Cloud infrastructure. Despite operating on the same technical foundation, they are separate products developed by different teams targeting different audiences.

Alipan, developed by Hangzhou Duanqu Network Media Technology Co., Ltd., targets general personal cloud users and positions itself around unlimited speeds and large storage. Pan Quark, developed by the Quark team under Alibaba's Innovation Business Group, targets users seeking a distraction-free, AI-enhanced experience integrated with the broader Quark ecosystem of browser and productivity tools.

Both services benefit from Alibaba Cloud Object Storage (OSS), the same global CDN acceleration network, and the AI capabilities developed by Alibaba's DAMO Academy.

Development History

2021: Official Launch

Pan Quark officially launched, initially integrated within the Quark browser app. The product focused on intelligent cloud storage, positioning itself around AI-powered file management from the start.

2022: Collaboration Features and Growth

Pan Quark introduced multi-device synchronization and team collaboration features. The registered user base exceeded ten million by end of year.

2023: Standalone Client Reconstruction

Pan Quark completed a full standalone client reconstruction, separating from the main Quark app ecosystem and launching on major app stores as a single-function application.

January 2025: Document and PDF Editing Update

Quark Quick Transfer introduced online PDF editing and multi-device document editing with automatic saving, addressing the gap between file transfer tools that lack long-term storage and cloud services that lack flexible document categorization.

February 8, 2026: Standalone App Release

Alibaba officially released the standalone Pan Quark application across all major app stores in China. The app fully separated from the Quark browser, emphasizing an ad-free, minimalist design with immediate access to the file management interface.
