CTfile

CTfile (城通网盘, ctfile.com), also referred to as CTDISK, is a cloud storage service operated by Shanghai Dihui Information Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Lujiazui free trade zone in Shanghai. The company behind CTfile has been providing enterprise-level cloud storage to businesses in the United States since 2001, and entered the Chinese market with the CTfile platform in April 2009. As of 2026, the service has accumulated tens of millions of users and stores over 100 PB of data.

CTfile offers 5 TB of free renewal storage to all registered users, with paid plans scaling up to 70 TB. Unlike most Chinese cloud storage services, CTfile supports WebDAV access for batch file management. It also runs a revenue-sharing program that pays uploaders per valid download click on their shared files, with withdrawals available via Alipay or PayPal.

Free user files are automatically renewed as long as they receive download activity. Files with no downloads for six consecutive months may be cleared, but upgrading to a paid plan extends retention indefinitely.

CTfile registration and stable access typically requires a Chinese phone number and a Chinese IP address for consistent connections. Users outside China can use BAIDUDL to download files from CTfile share links without needing a CTfile account.

Revenue Sharing

CTfile operates a revenue-sharing program that pays file uploaders when other users download their shared files. This model has made CTfile popular among forum moderators, content creators, and users who share files widely across Chinese web communities. CTfile positions its program as having higher payout rates and no click deduction compared to similar platforms.

DetailValue
Max reward per valid click0.4 CNY
Minimum withdrawal10 CNY
Withdrawal methodsAlipay, PayPal
Click deductionNone

A valid click is defined as a user who accesses a shared file link and clicks the standard download button. Revenue tiers are updated based on download volume, with higher-traffic uploaders earning at higher per-click rates. Earnings from different files accumulate in the same account balance, and the same downloader can generate valid clicks on multiple different files from the same uploader.

PayPal support for withdrawals is notable compared to most Chinese cloud storage platforms, which typically only support Chinese payment processors. This makes CTfile's earning program accessible to uploaders who do not hold a Chinese bank account or Alipay balance.

Capabilities

WebDAV Access

CTfile supports WebDAV protocol for Standard and Super Members, enabling batch file management through compatible desktop clients and operating system file managers. WebDAV allows users to mount CTfile storage as a network drive and manage files directly without using the web interface, which is particularly useful for bulk transfers and automation workflows.

Online Playback

Audio and video files can be played directly from cloud storage without downloading. CTfile's online player supports common video and audio formats for in-browser playback, making it convenient for users who share media files and want recipients to preview content before downloading.

Upload Speed

CTfile states it has maintained unlimited upload speeds since its founding, with transfer rate determined solely by the user's own network connection rather than server-side throttling. This applies to all users regardless of plan tier.

Security

CTfile uses its TechSense Technology for layered encryption of stored data and Dynamic Encryption Technology for triple encryption of user credentials. The service operates across multiple data centers covering China Telecom, Unicom, and Mobile networks for continuous high-speed access. The Windows client runs on version 5.1.7 and supports Windows 10 and later on 64-bit systems, with a legacy 32-bit build available for Windows 7.

Development History

2001: Enterprise Cloud Storage Origins

The company behind CTfile began providing enterprise-level cloud storage services to small and medium businesses in the United States in 2001 under Ledo Inc. This background in enterprise storage informed the technical foundation that CTfile brought to the Chinese consumer market.

April 2009: China Launch

CTfile officially launched in China on April 1, 2009, jointly funded by Chengtong Technology and China Long Distance Telecom, with the company establishing its operational base in the Lujiazui free trade zone in Shanghai. The service went through five major version updates in its first two years, reaching Version 5 in June 2011.

Ongoing: 16 Years of Operation

CTfile has operated continuously since 2009, accumulating tens of millions of users and over 100 PB of stored data across 16 years of service. The platform has updated its storage tiers significantly over time, most recently offering 5 TB free storage and up to 70 TB for paid plans, a substantial increase from the service's earlier storage limits.
